Larry
R. Brown is seeking his second term representing
District 73 in the North Carolina House of
Representatives. Prior to his election two years
ago, Larry had served the Town of Kernersville for over
18 years as Alderman and Mayor.Larry graduated from Kernersville High School and
Central Wesleyan College (now Southern Wesleyan
University). He holds a BA degree in business
administration with minors in accounting and Biblical
studies from Central Wesleyan, where he was a Dean’s List student and won the
American Legion Scholarship Award for leadership and
academics for the State of South Carolina.
Larry is a veteran of the United States Navy, having served
in the Viet Nam era, and recently retired from the
United States Postal Service. He has been a real estate
broker since 1975.
Larry and his wife Martha Vance Brown, a
Kernersville native, have two grown children.
Larry is a charter member of Freedom Wesleyan
Church. While a member of Kernersville Wesleyan
Church he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Board
of Director, and Nursing Home Teacher, and President of
Wesleyan Men’s Organization.
He is currently a member of the Kernersville Civitan
Club, and has served on the Executive Committee of the Northwest
Piedmont Council of Governments. Larry was the lead
spokesperson representing Northwest Piedmont Council of
Governments, as well as the Town of Kernersville,
speaking numerous times to various agencies and public
meetings in favor of the proposed FedEx hub for
Greensboro.

him
An Outstanding Young Man in America. Larry was the
first U.S. mayor to partner with a Russian mayor in the
U.S. Russian Mayor-to-Mayor Program of Cooperation. |
